Jeff Foxworthy says "You might be a redneck, if you mow your lawn and find a car." Well, this photo (click to enlarge) isn't just tall grass, but Miscanthus. It may be the key to defeating the oil funded terrorists and Global Warming, keeping the USA v. China as the world's economic leader, and greatly improving Agriculture's economic role by returning to God's Green Earth.
First let me explain why I'm posting on this subject. Back in 7/05, I started out by trying to help the Search Marketing Industry grow. On 7/21/06, Peter Kim (senior analyst at Forrester Research) was kind enough to respond to my comment on "Forrester's Marketing Blog". He said "But new (search marketing) agencies will have to learn some old tricks, too - building a compelling brand is different than trying to reverse engineer a search algorithm." While it is true that "Black Hat SEO" uses mostly algo reverse engineering, there is a whole lot more to SEO that the Search Maketing Industry's bad/misleading reputation sometimes precludes.
Bad/misleading reputations are hard to shake, and some SEO, youthful self-interests ignore the reality of how to help the entire industry through self-policing. Peter Kim's comment proved to me that still, nothing had changed much in that regard. I'm glad I changed my focus in 4/06 with "From Search Marketing's Reputation to Deceptive Websites ". While "Deceptive & Misleading Websites Steal Time = Money ", and I believe that there is a major problem with "Deceptive Websites' Privacy Policies & Terms of Service" " (since they lack clear, conspicuous, complete, and comprehendable disclosure), something happened in 7/06 to make me change my focus again with this Brokerblogger.com blog. Here's how it happened.
First, I read "Energy costs alter family life in N. Texas" which depicts a current local phenomenon. But, energy costs are now greatly affecting how long term buyers are coming together with ethical and value driven sellers in B2C and B2B local, regional, national, and global markets. Then I saw a TV interview with Tom Friedman, who did "Addicted to Oil" on the Discovery Channel. In this "promo" for the Discovery show called "Addicted to Oil: Government's Role" Tom said "Green Technology is going to be THE growth industry of the 21st century." followed by asking if America, China, Japan, or Europe will dominate Green Technology. There is even a "Green Gross Domestic Product (Green GDP)".
An Amazon.com interview with Tom Friedman called "Where Were You When You Realized the World Is Flat? (Or Have You?)" has in his 8th response "..the energy for the next phase of globalization is really going to come from the creativity and aspirations of all these new people (younger generations), this new rainbow." Being "creative" is "having the ability or power to create; 'a creative imagination." So, there is a new "buzz" among many younger people who are being motivated to use "Greenmagination" (green creative resourcefulness). You might say they have "Green Aspirations".
Who is creating this "Greenmagination" buzz? Besides Tom Friedman, I recently saw this Google Video called "Biofuels: Think Outside The Barrel" where Google's co-founder, Larry Page, introduced Vinod Khosla. This video is 1 hour and 8 minutes and worth every minute! In it, Vinod says an oil company executive threatened him, because Vinod's ideas would negatively affect the oil industry. It didn't scare Vinod!
Then I read "Carbon Killers" in the online July issue of "Wired.com". It talks about GE's "Ecomagination" initiative. GE describes it this way: "Today's environmental challenges present an opportunity for GE to do what GE does best - imagines and builds innovative solutions that benefit our customers and society at large. Ecomagination is our commitment to develop products and solutions that help our customers, shareholders and the public." GE's creative "imagination at work" is going "Green", because that is where the money is, besides helping people.
So, I'm off on an new, more important challenge that will be my new Brokerblogger.com focus. It looks like all the ingredients in the recipe for "Greenmagination" success are starting to happen. Examples of "Greenmagination" will follow in future posts. I hope to help with Vinod Khosla's request that bloggers help "kick start" the green buzz. I also hope to help with what Tom Friedman asked, and that is: "Everyone's got to do what they can afford to do in the (energy use) choices they make."
